This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Technology is just a tool. In terms of getting the kids working together and motivating them, the teacher is the most important." (Bill Gates)
We have the teacher... now we need the technology! Technology-based instruction really motivates students with disabilities.
Our Title-1 school serves a diverse population of students.
We have many English Language Learners and low-socioeconomic students. I teach special education to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders with disabilities. Our school is a community center and source of consistency for all students and families. We have multiple clubs and after-school programs that serve our kids. My administrators and coworkers are working hard to provide instruction that helps prepare middle school students for the modern technology-based society of the future.
My Project
My current laptop is used to project academic videos, presentations, and games. Students enjoy having visual representation of concepts with access to the Internet. Students will also be able to use the computer to assess their learning and skill level.
Also, because I am the special education teacher, I am responsible for Individual Education Plans. Individual Education Plans are used to help students with disabilities receive services and get extra help from teachers, however they are all computerized. Access to a dependable computer will help maintain state and national guidelines on a daily basis.
Our classroom will be able to flourish with up-to-date technology!
Students with disabilities need reliable access to information and activities on the computer. Learning occurs when lessons can be supported by videos and virtual field trips. My ability to access student records, test-scores, and standards-based instructional tools will help me become a more effective educator! Students perform best when they have better teachers.
