Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
For most of our day we focus on ELA and my struggle recalling the phonics due to the processing of sound to their ear. Using the radio with listening center sets, students will gain the auditory sound for reading. They are currently on a Pre A reading level.
My students try their best and put their all into everything they do.
They come from second and third generational groups to America. They struggle with being an ELL and having speech delays. They are also receiving the OT services and need assistance with the simple task of holding their pencils.
My Project
Students will be able to use these tools throughout the whole day. From when we are conducting our Foundations, to when we practice writing our letter and words, to literacy centers. They will also use the phones during shared reading, partner reading and independent reading. Our students will hear themselves as well as get the proper instruction of intonation and annunciation through the modeling of a story read to them at the listening center while enjoying their favorite stories on audio with their peers. The reinforcement of the positioning of their hands the pencil grips provide will help them be able to hold a pencil correctly, prohibiting further delays and complications.
The donations to my classroom will personally touch the needs of each one of my special needs students.
The resources at our school are limited and the needs are great. With the donations made to this project we will be enabling our students to go farther with tools that are specifically designed to aide them into the right direction.
