Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I'm a special educator who teaches almost everything! I teach kindergarten, 6th, 7th & 8th grades at an urban, public school in Baltimore, Maryland. Our elementary school is a zoned neighborhood school and the middle school is a magnet school attracting students from all over the city.

My kindergarten students enjoy coming to class and will eagerly sit on the FLOOR and read books after they've completed their work. The problem is that the bare floor is usually cold and hard. In addition, I'm running out of books they haven't read yet.

I'd like to create a cozy reading corner. I know they would love to have a soft, large carpet to sit on rather than sitting on the tile floor. I'd also like to have a few new, exciting books teaching my students to treat animals nicely and respectfully.

Please help me make our classroom more inviting and cozy for the children. Everything you donate will be greatly appreciated! Every little bit helps immensely!
