Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
While the items in this cart may seem miscellaneous, they are actually very important to the organization of our class. Organization is important because the students feel at ease when their environment is neat.
It lends to a more welcoming learning space.
Clothespins are used to write student names when they need to be moved around. For example, these slips are used for center rotation and to label pencils or headphones. I want the students to feel like this classroom belongs to all of us and therefore I like to decorate the space with their work which is why construction paper is important. Since this is a student space, the drawers are used for student storage in the "Student Center". Here we always have extra materials, games, books, and center activities. The students are responsible for keeping this area neat. They really get involved in caring for their classroom as the year goes on. The hanging file folder is used to store work when students are absent. Our classroom uses a whiteboard for literacy and math, so we are always in need of dry erase markers and cleaner. This simple activity really gets the students excited to participate. Finally, the printer ink is a critical part of our classroom. This helps us print out pictures, center games, differentiated instruction for ELLs and students with needs, and any other printed item our classroom may need.
