My classroom is full of energetic, eager, engaged and inquisitive students ages three to six years old. We are part of a public early childhood Montessori school that believes in following the child, allowing the child to work at their own pace to learn and discover the world around them. My students take pride in their work and what they can do to showcase their knowledge.
"We discovered that education is not something which the teacher does, but that it is a natural process which develops spontaneously in the human being." -Maria Montessori
My Project
These materials will allow my students to see themselves in their artwork and classroom library books. With markers, crayons, colored pencils and construction paper in the many different shades of skin found throughout the world, my students will be able to recreate their skin tone when making art. The books will allow my students to see themselves and their families in our classroom library.
The future of the world is in my classroom.
I want them to know they are important. They are loved. They are special. They are worthy. They deserve accurate flesh-colored materials and books that include people that look just like them.
