Our class loves to read! My students look forward to going to the school library and also picking out books from my classroom library. Unfortunately, my classroom library does not provide students with a wide selection of books on different topics.
My students have just finished the first grade where they learned the skills necessary to read.
They are eager and excited to put their new skills to work by reading more challenging and interesting books. My class loves to read. Every day we have a time dedicated to silent reading. The students look forward to this time of day where they can dive into a new book. They love to read about science and animals and also enjoy reading chapter books.
My Project
The books I have requested will allow students to choose a book from a wide selection of genres and topics. When students are able to select their own books according to their interests, they will be more excited and willing to read. When reading a self selected book students will be engaged in the topic which will help their comprehension and reading skills flourish. Our classroom library will also be useful when our class does group research projects because students will be able to select and use books from our room to help them learn and write about topics we are studying in the classroom.

I want to continue to fuel this excitement by providing a classroom library full of books that are interesting to my students. We use our classroom library every single day multiple times. The books I have requested will help me create a well-rounded classroom library where students can select books that they will enjoy reading.
