Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our days in 3rd grade are very busy and active. We constantly have more than one teacher teaching more than one group of students. Many times 3 different activities are going on in our classroom, it can get noisy and busy.
In our classroom at Washington school the students are very enthusiastic about learning, however it is not always the quietest learning environment.
Our students have a variety of different learning styles and levels. Our classroom is very active with students entering and exiting the classroom at different times to receive different services. Many students have difficulty staying focused when there are other activities going on in the classroom. Also, some students are very sensitive to additional noise while working. These students sometimes have difficulty completing assignments while there is extra noise happening.
My Project
Our students will be able to move in and out of their seat without the noise and distraction. Students will also be able to stay engaged throughout the school day by wearing the headphones if there is extra noise distracting a student.
The tennis balls will also help with minimizing distraction. Any time a student gets out of the seat and the chair scratches the floor, it makes a loud noise. Putting tennis balls at the end of each chair leg will first minimize the noise when a child pulls their chair out as well as never mark the floor. The desk partitions will give students privacy when working which can keep some students more focused. The desk partitions are also great for privacy when testing.
These items will help our classroom run more smoothly and our chairs will move more smoothly along the floor.
We will also be able to focus without the loud scratching noises every time a student wants to move. The desk partitions will help our students stay more focused and pay attention. Some of our students are very sensitive to extra noise, the headphones will come in handy for them to feel more comfortable and focused while working.
