Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Each trimester, we use colorful mini accents to represent the Accelerated Reader (AR) points earned by our students. As they read and accumulate points, they write their name, date, and points on each accent, adding it to our AR tree. Watching the tree grow provides a powerful, visual representation of their learning and achievements, helping to build confidence, motivation, and a love for reading. Seeing their progress displayed in real-time encourages students to set goals, challenge themselves, and take pride in their accomplishments.

At the end of each trimester, we take down the individual accents, giving everyone a fresh start and a renewed sense of motivation.

However, at the end of the school year, each student receives a metal ring holding all the mini accents they’ve collected—a colorful and meaningful keepsake of their reading journey, reminding them of how much they have grown and achieved.
