Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a bilingual kindergarten teacher that works in an economically disadvantaged and Title I school. My students are eager to learn in both languages English and Spanish at the same time but unfortunately their parents are not bilingual to help them. My students work very hard every day and they are proud of everything they learn. We talk very often about their future and what they want to become, they picture themselves as future doctors, lawyers, nurses, astronauts, etc., and most importantly they always say that they want to help people.
My Project
My new project is a dream that my class and I hope will come true very soon as it will make a big difference in the library of our classroom and in the lives of my students.
Having the appropriate literature in the English language will have a big impact on the academic knowledge of my students and will be the key tool for them to make the transition between languages.
The Scholastic News Nonfiction Readers will help us to perform many activities related to Science but now in English.
My students are very intelligent children and with a lot of desire to excel in this country. They highly value the gift of education and the advantage of speaking multiple languages.
