This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students in my room are very diligent students who are constantly striving to do their very best and to accomplish their goals. Many of them are second language learners and appreciate the benefits of attending a school where academics are of the highest priority. They are always seeking to gain new information and to learn new things. With responsibilities at home that limit their time to explore subjects and to master skills, they appreciate a classroom where they are given liberty to improve in all subject areas. The more materials in the classroom, which help in this area, the more they will learn and improve in all areas. Our school loves to facilitate learning. As their teacher, I want them to love to learn and have the confidence and self-motivation to strive for their best.

My Project

Diving into a new adventure is only part of what we do in our classroom, making the environment in which we read and learn is the another. Not only does the novel Gregor the Overlander evoke a desire to read more about the adventure of Gregor, but it also evokes the desire to learn about the character development that occurs. With these copies of Gregor the Overlander, we will add them to the copies we already have access to in order to have a classroom set of books. This way, all students will have their very own copy to read and enjoy.

When students enjoy not only the book they're reading, but the places and ways they are reading their books, there is a love for learning that happens.

The other items we are asking for help improve our ways and places of reading. Our umbrella is to help block the sun outside at the tables for reading during the school day, our flashlights allow us to have fun reading in the dark, and the cart allows for our reading materials and library books to be wheeled around and kept organized. With these new additions to the classroom, I can only see the love of reading increasing in each student's life and their desire to read more books to increase.
