My Project
With your help, we would like to acquire a class set of Judy Blume's classic 'Otherwise Know As Sheila The Great' for our school library.
92% of the students at our school come from households with below-average income.
The kids tend to be first-generation Americans whose parents have recently arrived in the U.S. from the Caribbean or from Central or South America. We do not have an affluent PTA that could help us purchase resources for our media center.
Around 3rd or 4th grade, students switch from reading easy picture books to reading short, fun chapter books. This is a big step! To facilitate this transition, our 4th grade teacher team wants to read Judy Blume books with their classes. Judy Blume has a series of easy, fun chapter books about 4th graders. The team would like us to acquire a class set of the second book in the series, called 'Otherwise Know As Sheila The Great'.
The books come from Follett School Solutions - a library book supplier that will barcode each title and provide us with electronic data records, so that the books can be circulated through our library computer.
Would you mind helping our 4th graders by purchasing this set for our library?
