Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have 17 second grade students who are eager and enthusiastic learners. They come from many different backgrounds. With my class being in North Carolina, several are military families that stay for a brief period of time before getting orders to go elsewhere. All the students in my class are served through our free lunch and breakfast program. Of my 17 students, I have several that are reading below grade level. Over half of my students are being served by our English as a Second Language Program. Their parents speak little or no English. It is hard for these students to get help at home, and many of them have to complete homework at school in order to get extra help when they need it. My students strive to do their best, even with the difficulties they face every day. I am trying to find as many resources as I can and make them available to help my students be the best they can be!
My Project
For my students to be able to compete globally in this 21st Century World, they need the tools to help them grow. With the iPad and Osmo Genius Kit, my students will be able to practice math facts, get extra help with language arts, and create digit masterpieces. The Awie Coding add on will allow my students to experience the world of coding, which is really big in the technology world right now. The Pizza Company add on gives them a chance to run their own business, which in turn gives them skills they will need later in life.
In order for my students to be globally aware and competitive, this new technology is imperative for their learning.
I want my students to leave my classroom as confident 21st Century Learners with a better understanding of what lies ahead for them in this technology driven world.
