Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is located a few miles from the California-Mexico border with 100% of our students receiving free and reduced-price lunch. We are a class of first and second grade students who are anxious and happy to learn. With the curriculum becoming more rigorous, especially in reading and math, we want to be able to experience the learning firsthand and be focused. Our class is an active bunch of students who are highly engaged and ready to dive into learning.

My Project

Our 1st and 2nd grade classroom is a 1:1 iPad classroom with the generous help of donors from this website. My students embrace technology and all the ways it can help us learn. Recently, we have been exploring coding Dash robots. The students have really taken a liking for thinking outside the box- creatively and logically in order to solve problems in the realm of Computer Science and coding.

I want to continue to ignite their interest in coding and creativity with these Osmo Kits.

Having multiple kits will allow students the opportunity to arrange tangrams, practice coding, master spelling, freehand drawing, and learn geography to grasp 21st century skills as well as grade level curriculum.
