This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach an amazing and diverse group of Kindergarten English Language Learners in one of the highest poverty areas of Boston. These wonderful boys and girls love school! It is important to me that my students enjoy learning. As their teacher, I strive to provide opportunities for my students to think creatively, problem solve, and engage in play-based learning- the same methods that are often used in wealthier districts.

It's important to me that students have the same opportunities as students across the state.

Due to limited resources and an emphasis on test-taking often found in urban communities, my students lack developmentally appropriate, and more importantly fun!, technology and activities in the classroom.

My Project

Osmo Genius Kits offer hands-on materials that are used in conjunction with games on an ipad. Kindergarteners spend the majority of their day learning in small groups and the Osmo Kits can be used independently during small group work to practice Literacy, Mathematics, and a variety of STEM activities. The Kits meet the needs of all students as they range from Pre-K up to 5th grade content. Students can work at their own pace using differentated programs and materials. Most importantly, Osmo Genius Kits are FUN! They play music, use play-based and game-based learning and students love work with them.
