My Students

My students are a diverse group of learners in a Title I school. That means many students come from socio-economically challenged homes.

Each student brings experience that adds to the diversity and character of our classroom community.

Several students come from the apartments located near the school, others walk from the aging neighborhood, and some are bussed from other parts of the community.

Whether they have problems at home or learning difficulties, each comes to school hoping to be accepted, motivated, respected, and successful. They will learn to recognize and value what each has to offer and work together in their quest for knowledge. They will work independently, with each other, or in small groups as they struggle and succeed.

My Project

The Osmo Genius kit and supporting materials will be used in our third grade classroom to support our STEAM agenda.

Teaching with a focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math will move this generation nearer to closing the skills gap between students in the U.S.

and students in other countries.

Using the Osmo kit, students will practice technology and engineering skills through play. There is a proverb, some credit Ben Franklin, others a Chinese proverb, it says; “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.” These materials involve students in learning.
