My students are a diverse group of kids who come from many different families. Close to a Navy base, we are a quaint Title 1 school with a diverse population. Some students have parents in the military while many more live in low-income households. With that, each child learns in their own way.
Always up and moving, our classroom is filled with students taking learning into their own hands.
From reading buddies to science projects, our room is always buzzing with little learners!
My teaching style is based on collaborative learning. I believe that students are not meant to be sitting in a chair all day, but pursuing what they're passionate about. I view myself as a facilitator of learning and I strive to set an example of the values I hope they carry on throughout their lives.
My Project
OSMO learning kits are interactive games that students will use when working on the iPad with STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Arts and Math) and other Florida Standards. They give instant feedback and are self rewarding for every type of learner. There are levels with each game that will be able to reach all abilities. Specifically, students will be able to deepen their Mathematics skills through interactive learning. They will also be able to work on money standards and other math standards when using the Coding and Pizza games. The best part of all, is that these games are fun and interactive, which will only increase their learning success! Taking ownership in learning is key to every child's education.
Imagine the look on a second grade student's face as they are able to interact with learning using the Osmo learning games.
Their eyes will sparkle and their faces will light up as they are able to play with their peers and get instant feedback using this technology. The Osmo learning games would create endless opportunities for my current students as well as future students.
