This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Students who enter my first grade classroom come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. The one thing that they have in common is they are insightful, inquisitive youngsters who are ready to learn. We have fun, yet focused days filled with creativity, inquiry, exploration, and hands on learning. As teachers we have a responsibility to ensure their continued passion and excitement for learning.

Our goal is to expose our students to as many learning opportunities that will prepare them for the futures as possible.We strive to provide our students with hands-on activities that allow them to learn in their own way.

My students, like many other first graders, learn best through hands-on activities, projects that get them up and moving while stimulating their creative thinking. We owe it to them to give them every resource possible to reach their full learning potential.

My Project

My students need a new innovative way to immerse themselves in technology, while still using hands-on manipulatives to promote and support hands on learning through technology. Osmo is a program designed for students to use with an iPad to play and interact with virtual games that will provide a unique way to engage my students. Osmo allows them to explore and create in a variety of learning areas. It can be used for math and reading. The opportunity to incorporate coding with our STEM buddies is something that I am so excited to have my students experience. When the coding is paired with an iPad, the Osmo transforms the area into an interactive environment. My students will use physical objects in the area in front of the iPad to process coding with their STEM buddy. They will snap the physical blocks together to create sequences and commands and easily learn computer programming fundamentals. 

Osmo is a magical award-wining technology system that bridges the physical and digital worlds by taking gameplay beyond the screen.

This new technology offers many benefits through each of its programs. The Osmo system allows students to work at their own pace as well as with partners and small groups. My students will have the opportunity to code, experiment, explore, design, build and explain what they have learned. When students use Osmo Coding it will teach them skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, logic, and much more. With Osmo, coding is approachable, creative and fun. The Coding Awbie Game, will give my students the experience with cutting edge technology to further their development and knowledge. The possibilities are endless and exciting as they interact with technology in a new way.
