My classroom is made up of 22 eager, energetic, hard-working, and awesome first graders.
Within my classroom, there are a variety of needs, learning styles, and developmental levels of the students.
They come from many different backgrounds, where many of them have had difficult obstacles to overcome already at an early age in their life. Several of them really lack the confidence needed to work toward their full potential. Many of them find it incredibly challenging to focus and pay attention throughout the entire school day. Our school is a Title I school and has a large low-socioeconomic population.
My Project
OSMO is interactive technology platform that allows students use to use math, language, coding and problem solving skills. Using iPads, students can use the OSMO materials purchased to code games and create programs. OSMO materials can also be used by struggling students to practice things like letter names and sounds, building words, spelling, math facts, solving problems, and countless other things. The students use the tiles to interact with the screen. The reflector reads their work and determines if the program needs to be adjusted to meet the student's level.
The Osmo allows me to differentiate our literacy and math centers for all students.
I will be able to provide engaging, self-checking games for them to play while learning important skills and keeping them focused and excited about learning.
