I need the Orton-Gillingham Classroom Educator training in order to support all of my students' learning differences and give them the instruction they deserve.
As we move more towards a scientific approach to teaching reading to our students, I would like to learn another tool that will help the learners in my classroom. Orton-Gillingham, is a researched-based, multi-sensory approach to teaching reading. This program has been especially successful with students that struggle with reading, especially those with dyslexia.
I would like to be able to give my students as many strategies as possible by becoming an Orton-Gillingham Classroom Educator.
As a learner with dyslexia myself, I would love to be able to use this approach with my struggling students is the most effective way to ensure their success.
The course I would like to take is designed to teach classroom teachers, special education teachers, reading teachers, speech and language pathologists as well as interested faculty and administration about dyslexia. The curriculum includes understanding and diagnosing dyslexia, the educational approach to treating dyslexia, and materials and lesson plan ideas for teaching students with dyslexia.
