This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have attended the Orton-Gillingham professional development training through the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education (IMSE) and have seen how this approaches benefits all of my struggling readers. But in order to make this approach truly effective, children need to utilize their visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile senses while imprinting their learning in their brains. The twistable crayons, magna-doodles, and screens will help connect the sound/symbol connections for my students.

A multi-sensory approach to literacy development is vital for my students!

These materials will allow my students to feel the shape of letters and words while seeing colors to help build their literacy skills! We will make learning to engage, and develop readers in the meantime!
