Over the summer I was trained using a multi-sensory approach, Orton-Gilligham through the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education (IMSE). IMSE uses many materials to provide supportive supplemental material for children on how to read / write.
To be successful, I want to set up my students well.
I want to provide binders where they have their materials ready to go so they will not waste any time. This would make it so easy and very time efficient, during our already pretty busy day.
These materials would be green crayons for words they can sound out, red crayons for "red words", sand (and trays) to have a kinesthetic learning style, and bumpy screens to provide another tactile item to write on.
