My Project
Each year, we create Sonobe Origami Cubes using this specially cut paper! This is always a fun activity that students ask to repeat again and again. We talk about things like mid-point, interior vs. exterior, and more!
We do this on days we take the state MCA test to bring cultural representation in a fun and engaing way, on days students are mentally spent.
The use of origami helps students master abstract concepts such as faces, edges, and vertices in a physical way.
In addition, this activity gives students who often struggle with numbers an opportunity to be successful in our math class. It is so powerful to watch students take turns being the experts in math class!
More than half of students from low‑income households
