My Project
Each year, we create Sonobe Origami Cubes using this specially cut paper! This is always a fun activity that students ask to repeat again and again. We talk about things like mid-point, interior vs. exterior, and more!
We make sonobe origami cubes and octahedrons during our weekly enrichment time as a school.
The use of origami helps students master abstract concepts such as faces, edges, and vertices in a physical way while bringing light to the many diverse cultures represented at our school.
In addition, this activity gives students who often struggle with numbers an opportunity to be successful in our math class. It is so powerful to watch students take turns being the experts in math class!
