Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Students are 8th graders and mostly Hispanic and African American students. 60% of the students come from a low income family. Our students have a drive to learn and curious about the world around them. The students arriving at our school know that our main mission is to prepare them with tools for college and beyond.

My Project

Students are doing a lot of work on the computer and feel this project would allow students to be more creative. I hope that students can use this origami paper to be able to create with their hand in a mindful manner, to focus on building worlds using the creativity that they all have as well as showing them the history of origami. Students can use this resource to express themselves and create objects that they could gift to others. Other objects could be used as resources in other subjects like math and science, along with social emotional learning.
