My Project

When a workspace is organized, it helps everyone think clearer and work better. My classroom is a happy, welcoming place, but lacks organization due to a lack of storage supplies. This project will help me have an organized "resource center" for my students to easily access items. Working in an inner city high school, many of my students cannot afford basic supplies. I'm always trying to keep my classroom well supplied, not just for my students, but other students often come by asking for supplies. One thing I've noticed is there is no place to put these out and I have to constantly keep going to my desk to get these supplies. I'd love to have a place for them to freely go and get what they need without disruption or waiting on me, and continue their learning.

I teach Geometry, which means we often use lined paper, blank printer paper, and graph paper for different figures and constructions.

Right now, all items are in a drawer in my desk. Anytime a student needs something, I have to stop class to get it. The items I am requesting will allow me to put out basic items, such as the papers, pencils, and colored pencils that are often used in daily lessons of geometric drawings, rulers, compasses, protractors, and much more. Having an organized resource center will allow students to freely take what they need with minimal class disruption.

Additionally, our district started mandating new resources which include a class set of textbooks and workbooks for every student to be kept in the classroom. With a rotation of five classes, there's no place to store everything and stay organized. The bookshelf will be a massive help in terms storing and organizing. The laminating paper will help me label where everything goes.
