Organizing Our Leveled Library!

My Students

The small town I work in is rich with history; however, it is a largely improverished area. The majority of the students at my school come from low income homes where there is little opportunity for experience or learning. Many have faced more in their lives than most adults could imagine. My first graders are passionate about learning, and I'm always amazed at their progress. School is a place to belong, and I take every opportunity to love them as much as I teach them. It is my call.

My Project

In our classroom, Daily 5 literacy stations are a big deal! This project will help us with four of our stations.

These organizing cubes and materials will help my students choose books that are "just-right" for them by giving them ease of access to our leveled book library!

They will choose their books based on their independent reading level for their "Read to Self" book bags.

In addition, the magnetic letters will allow us to have a more hands-on approach to word-work and sight word building! The letters will come organized and easy for the students to use and reuse.

I will use the stickers to help the students more easily identify what books are in each level, and the headphone splitter will be used in our Listen to Reading station!
