I work at a school where students come from varying backgrounds. We are a college community, which attracts families from all over the world. This provides us with wonderful learning opportunities because of the different cultures we are exposed to. It also provides us with some challenges because of the increased diversity of students.
I have some students who have lived a more affluent life and have had more diverse experiences.
I also have many who have not had as many of these opportunities. These students deserve the opportunity to have at least some of these experiences as well. The one thing we all have in common is our love for the activity. All students, no matter their socio-economic status level or nationality, are more motivated when given the opportunity to incorporate movement into their school day.
My Project
Fifth graders love to let their creativity come out when working on projects. The problem is having the supplies needed so that they can do that and keeping them organized so they are easily accessible.
Organizing our supplies by groups will allow students to easily access colored pencils, scissors, glue, or any other supplies they may need.
Having a rolling cart and supply organizer for each group will let each group have materials available whenever they need them. The rolling carts will allow us to be flexible during times that we need to rearrange our room for special activities. Having supplies organized in a convenient way helps us use our class time more efficiently and have more time to create.
