Benjamin Franklin once said, "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn." Students need to be involved in their learning so that they can take ownership of what they are doing. Students need to get their hands "dirty" by using them to research, create, and make learning meaningful. I will teach about 20 eager, energetic third grade students in my classroom this year. We are a CEP, Title I school which means we have 100% participation in the free lunch program.
All of our students are eager to learn and need experiences that they do not get at home.
Many of our children come from single-parent or military homes. We want parents to associate school with love, learning, and caring. We would like to change parents' points-of-view from the negative experiences they may have had as children, to be able to see the positive experiences we provide their children through rich literature and unforgettable activities.
My Project
As student learn and grow, they need more space to explore concepts.
In 2018, I have a goal to make more space for my students, which involves organizing our classroom library and making it more student friendly.
We have 3 rolling bookshelves that make up our classroom library. They are very large and take up a lot of space in our classroom. We are asking for a Kallax shelving unit to serve as a bookcase for our classroom library. Having one 16-shelf Kallax unit will allow all of our classroom books to be neatly organized and stacked in one area, instead of several smaller bookshelves around the room. Thank you for helping to make our 2018 spacious and clutter free!
