My Students
Welcome to our classroom! We're a diverse bunch, but what's evident is that we are a community. We are a neighborhood school with about 80% of students walking to or being dropped off at school by a guardian. We are a high poverty school, but my students are motivated to learn and want be engaged in the classroom.
Being an inclusive school, our classroom is full of students with diverse abilities, integrating both general and special education in one room.
These first graders have differing skills, but one thing they have in common is a love for learning.
My first graders are energetic and enthusiastic! They love to sing and get up and move. Unfortunately, many of them are missing basic academic skills in the areas of literacy, math, and writing. This year we are focusing on closing the achievement gap and creating a classroom full of confident, successful students.
My Project
A new school year and a new batch of bright-eyed students! This year we have new curriculum in Reading, Math, and Phonics. These materials will help to keep all our new materials organized.
Having organized, easy to find materials will help students to quickly navigate our classroom, saving valuable instructional minutes.
The large colorful boxes will help us to organize our classroom library, making it easier for students to find their books. The small boxes will be used to hold math manipulatives for table groups of students, allowing them to have their materials organized and easily on hand. The lanyards will be used to hold bathroom passes and student name tags for phonic lessons.
