My Students
My kindergarten classroom consists of 22 diverse learners who are creative, enthusiastic and come in each day with curiosity and excitement for learning! They thrive on getting their hands dirty, observing, and exploring their environment. Fostering positive values and a sense of community in my students has always been the heart of my goals for my class. We started off as a group of strangers and have developed into a team of explorers and learners. This philosophy has allowed me to focus on community building along side reading, writing and math. I love watching my students build and create throughout the day in both academic projects as well as in ways that allow them to explore social interactions and positive relationships.
My Project
During the kindergarten year I see my students grow into independent learners. This process takes lots of teaching, scaffolding, and practice, but allows my students to thrive in school.
To facilitate independence and to allow students to take ownership of their space and work, we use tools like seat sacks where students can keep their work accessible, organized and on task, and just right for learning.
In my class students get what they need to do their best work. SeatSacks, an art drying rack, individual timers and pocket charts would help many of my students be ready to learn in a way that works for them!
