This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have four classes of amazing students. These kids have not been in school to experience a traditional classroom since the 4th grade. They are stuggling academically, socially, and emotionally to readjust. The readjustment is not just for being physically back in the building but also learning how to socialize again.

The state of the world has had a dramatic impact on our youth over the past two years, they need different resources to help adjust.

They want to succeed and do well, they just lack the skill set currently to do so. One of the major pitfalls we have seen over the course of the last few years has been a hit to their reading aptitude. It is heartbreaking to see these 6th graders struggle to read simple books and struggle with basic math skills.

My Project

These materials will help keep the students organized, as well as provide an avenue to not lose any work in their backpacks. The goal here is to provide a pouch with supplies for each student in each class. The pouch will have pencils, pens, highlighters, etc that will stay in a designated area in the classroom. Each student will also get a folder that they will place their work into so they won't have to misplace their work.

The 6th graders I teach have come into this school year wholly unprepared.

This is through no real fault of anyone as we navigate through difficult times. The goal and hope here are to help reestablish being prepared and organized to send them off into the next grade level with the tools to succeed.
