Help me give my students more shelving for our classroom library and more books for our library! We also need drawers and tools to help me stay organized while I work with students in small group and interventions.
Our class is one diverse group of learners, from varied home-lives, relationships, mental and emotional disorders, abilities, and academic levels. We have students ranging from a first grade reading level to a sixth grade level.
However, in our class, it doesn't matter where you come from or where you're at, but just being the best YOU that you can be.
Our classroom isn't just about academics but about taking care of each other, other kids in our school, and being a better person.
Because of that, we are constantly building ourselves and learning skills like how to be aware of the needs of others, how to be independent, how to be kind even when others aren't, and accepting people for who they are. In our room, we start with the person and once we are taken care of, we can focus on academics.
My Project
My students will be able to have more room for more books that are donated to us throughout the year which means more reading opportunities and an expanded vocabulary and Language Arts basis. We will also be able to have things like pens, tools, folders, and testing materials put together so that I don't waste any time searching for items and can spend the bulk of our time on learning and helping low students who need extra support in both math and reading groups. We have an hour 3 times a week in which we can work with students one-on-one or in a small group to help them with concepts they are struggling with. We also separate students through our fifth grade classes based on their reading and language skills, so meeting with these groups and students while having all needed supplies handy will make a huge difference in how much faster they are able to catch up on their reading skills.
