Organizing and Maximizing STEM

My Students

My students come from low-income backgrounds. They do not have the opportunity to experience very much technology outside of the classroom. I have made it a goal of mine to introduce as much technology as possible to them so they may have a well-rounded education prior to entering the real world as young adults.

Our school is a community that serves many military families from the Little Rock Air Force Base.

We try to tie in how engineers have a role to play in the military as well as civilian life. This gives my students the ability to see how engineering could help them later in life even if they choose to follow in their parents' footsteps.

My students love hands-on activities and projects. About 90% of my class is project-based learning. This creates enthusiasm in the classroom and allows students to learn through experiences and not just direct instruction.

My Project

My Engineering and Computer Science classroom is needing materials to better help us organize our labs so we can function better. The hanging wall storage bins will allow us to keep material and tools in specific places so students can always find the items they are looking for. The SD cards are for students to safe files on and use in our drones and Go Pros that we document projects with. Our computer science class goes through a bunch of AA batteries per year building and testing prototypes. The batteries will be used to replenish our supply of AA batteries. The random items like tape, mice, and keyboards are going to be used to replace older or broken items in the Engineering lab.
