I work with five classes of incredible eighth-grade students. They are funny, enthusiastic, and eager to learn. We are a very diverse school in a quickly growing area in Lakewood, Colorado.
To quote one student, "We are different, fun, energetic, and special!" Our students are motivated to work and are able to turn the simplest project into a great learning adventure.
Many students, although motivated, are behind on state reading testing. We are very focused on helping every student reach and, hopefully, surpass grade-level expectations.
My classes are team-taught classes, which allows every special education the opportunity for inclusion. This requires many accommodations which benefit every student in the class. I am working to create a classroom which is set up to reach every student and every learning style.
My Project
We did it! We have great options available for every different learner. We have wobble chairs, standing desks, balance boards, balance chairs, and yoga balls. There is only one problem: you can barely walk through our room. We have yoga balls everywhere! We need organization.
Please help us get two racks and some organizational rings so that the yoga balls can be neatly stored against one wall and end the chaos!
The optional seating that we now have is incredible! When you walk into our classroom, you will see kids bouncing everywhere as they work. This increases focus and decreases fatigue. Optional seating has transformed our classroom and now we just need to get it organized.
