I teach at a bilingual school on the Western Slope of Colorado. We are lucky because our school district values the idea of our students becoming bilingual, bi-literate and multicultural by the 5th grade.
I love my job because each day I get to work with the world's brightest children...all of whom are second language learners.
Whether they are learning English or Spanish, they develop empathy and respect for one another along our journey. I also work at a Title I school which means that most of our students' families struggle with making "ends" meet. However, what each child lacks financially, they certainly make up with heart. You should see them learn!
My Project
At our school, each grade-level has 50 students who are learning to speak two languages. With our learning, our students produce a lot of paper work that needs to either be organized and filed away, or sent home. One of the most difficult parts of our day is trying to find a system that makes this process easier for our learners.
For all of these reasons, we are asking for a solid wood mailbox organization system to keep us organized.
We will be using them to quickly and efficiently keep our First grade things organized and ready to go. This will also free up time for other important things like literacy and math.
