My name is Mrs. Ray and I am a 4th grade Math Teacher. I enjoy my job even though it is one of the toughest jobs out there. I am rewarded whenever my student accomplish a standard or a goal. My students' smiling faces greet me at the door each morning and they motivate me to be the best teacher that I can be. We use every moment of our day as a time to improve. My students become very excited and feel proud of themselves after grasping hard concepts. As 4th graders, I hold them to highest of expectations and expect only the best from them. My 4th graders are eager to learn in my classroom. Most of my students are from poverty-stricken homes, yet this will not prevent them from coming to school.
Everyday my students come into my classroom with a fresh outlook and ready to tackle what the day has in store. However, we have a lot of desks, chairs, books, supplies, and computers on top of 25-27 bodies in one small room. It's a challenge to easily maneuver through the room and keep our work and our learning organized. Occasionally, there are confrontations that arise because our room is cluttered and crowded. I have three sections of 4th graders, so I decided to think of a way to create a student prep center. This center will have a pencil sharpener, pencils, notebook paper, hand sanitizer, lotion, facial tissues, and other that will be stationed either on or within a rolling cart. I want my students to have a sense of pride in knowing that they will have everything that they will need when they come into my classroom.
Being organized is the key to success and this is something I want to instill in my students.
The ultimate goal when kids start school is to prepare them for the real world. Organization is not a trait you inherit but rather something that is taught and learned over time.
These materials will help our crowded classroom to be tidy and have less distractions. My students will be able to keep track of their schoolwork and be provided with a calming work space so they are able to be successful.
