Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach in a Spanish Immersion school where the students learn math, science, and cultural studies in Spanish language. Half of the day is entirely in Spanish and the other half in English. My school is part of a very low income district where the resources that we have sometimes are often not enough for what we really need.

We have been working on streamlining the music room so supplies are labeled and easy for students to find and use.

These items will help us organize our mallets on our instruments, print colored labels, organize small instruments, keep our piano and string music organized, and play string games to work on our bow hold and bow placement.

Details on some of the items listed: Our class sizes are slowly getting bigger so one more set of floor cushions will make a full class set. The pencil holders will be attached to all of our pitched percussion instruments to make sure mallets are easy to find when needed. The boba straws and small cups will be used with strong students as we work on bow skills. The sticky notes will help string and piano student keep their binders organized as they get new music.
