it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Since the Covid pandemic shifted much of the K-12 academic instruction to digital formats, many students do not possess the organizational skills that are necessary to keep up with physical notes and other class resources. Many times last school year, students would misplace assignments or simply leave documents behind in previous class periods because they had no organizational system for handling their classroom paperwork. The need for organizational skills is not just a classroom need. Everyday life requires some sort of organization (maintaining schedules, record-keeping, etc.) and the classroom should serve as a place where students can hone such skills.
Providing our scholars with class binders will support the push for individualized progress tracking, helping students take ownership of their own learning and growth.
Students will be able to reference class notes, vocabulary pages, and past assessments, keeping them actively informed of class content. Purchasing school supplies can be an expensive ask for many of our students. As a result, being able to provide binders and other classroom materials would alleviate some of the financial burden while providing students with the opportunity to develop organizational habits that support their education.
