Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are from inner city of Providence, RI. We are part of a larger school system that celebrates inclusion. The diversity of my students' background and reading level demand individualized scaffolding and modification at different levels. The high functioning learners are reading along side with academically challenged students. Currently we are using an online curriculum that caters to their own learning style.

Most struggling students find reading longer texts are intimidating and prefers to be read to.

Although online curriculum provides the option of audio texts, without headphones they have to forego part of the scaffolding through audio.

My Project

The atmosphere of a positive learning environment is crucial in letting students know they are in an organized classroom setting. You will make a great impact on my students' learning by helping me with a mobile library and filing bins that go with the cart, where students can easily access their books and hand in their assignments in an orderly fashion. Indeed, learning to organize is one of the most essential life skills that middle school students should develop before moving on to high school. By giving my students a mobile library cart we will maximize our small classroom resources, set clear learning goals and help them internalize the key elements of organization at the same time.
