LABELS!!! Children need to see the printed word everywhere!

My students live in a highly rural area.

How much print they are exposed to in their early years has a direct impact on their early reading skills. Many of my students see letters for the first time when they come to school. The more they see them, the quicker they will learn them!

My Project

With labels you open up a whole new kind of learning to children. Environmental print is important in showing children that reading doesn't just take place in books, but everywhere in the world around them. They can help to label items in the environment as it will also help build vocabulary skills for non-English speaking learners.

My project is important because children seeing the printed word is important.

The more they see letters and words the more they will want to be able to read them. They will want to become readers and enjoy learning at school!
