Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In our inclusive transition program, students with disabilities are developing real-world vocational and life skills every single day. From running our student-led café to organizing games for Best Buddies events, they’re not just participating; they’re leading. To support their independence, our classroom needs functional, durable, and accessible storage and organization tools that help students take ownership of their spaces and responsibilities.
We’re asking for your support to provide essential materials that build student confidence and structure.
Clear storage bins and magnetic labels will allow students to independently locate supplies for daily tasks. Motion sensor lighting will brighten low-visibility work areas, helping all learners (especially those with sensory sensitivities) feel safe and capable. A magnetic document holder will showcase our daily announcements, schedules, and community news, keeping everyone informed and included.
We’re also requesting materials that support student-run activities: clear game organizers for board games, storage tubs for legos and other activities, bookshelves for organizing our materials, and adaptive motion-sensor lighting. These small, but powerful tools create a culture of pride, clarity, and student agency.
With your support, our learners will have the tools they need to succeed, not just in school, but in life.
