Organized Happiness

Help me give my students an organized classroom because it is much more welcoming and makes it much easier for students to access materials.

My Project

The majority of my students come from low-income and broken homes. A lot of their lives are full of chaos and clutter. They are not shown how to keep things organized and do not have structure in their lives. This leads to lost papers, which makes school a lot more difficult. Unfortunately, this organization and structure is what makes many of my students feel safe and secure. They know what to expect. There are no surprises and this is very soothing for them mentally.

I want to create a space for students to be able to form a routine of getting their own supplies and papers with a new bookshelf, binders and hanging folders.

I will place all student papers and supplies in this area. They will learn how to find their make-up work, extra papers, and supplies all on their own with organization and routines. This will teach them life-long skills that they will hopefully utilize throughout adulthood. I also need a locking file cabinet for all confidential paperwork, as mine was old when I started teaching at my school and it recently broke. The drawers won't close all the way and it won't lock.
