Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This diverse, excited group of friends has come together with the primary goal of developing and strengthening their literacy skills. My students come from many diverse backgrounds and have a variety of different needs in reading and writing. With 25 diverse friends from various parts of the country and world, we have lots to share with each other.

One of my strongest values and beliefs is that literacy is a lifelong love that is kindled through giving readers the tools they need to successfully connect to their reading and writing.

I want them to develop such a passion for reading and writing that they identify as readers and writers. I each them that with some hard work and determination, they will be successful and on their way to their ultimate goals and dreams.

One thing that we would like you to know is that fostering a love for literacy in my students is the greatest privilege. Literacy will change their lives.

My Project

My students will use these book boxes to keep their new reading text and classroom notebooks organized and safe. Each student will have a sturdy way to keep their independent books and supplies at their fingertips when moving about the Reading Workshop rotations. With multiple teachers using the same classroom for different blocks, it is vital that we help keep students materials organized.

Reading Workshop allows us the freedom to explore literacy in an organized, meaningful way.

This simple organizational tool will help my students keep our precious books safe so that generations of high school students to come can enjoy these stories. They will truly enjoy these organized boxes while falling into a book.
