it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As most know, young people thrive in structured yet agentic environments. Providing students with a hands-on binder routine will build skills they will use in their everyday personal and professional lives.
By giving students the tools and habits to organize their learning, they will develop lifelong skills in responsibility, executive functioning, and self-management.
Ninth grade is a pivotal time in a student's academic career. With this strong foundation, students can carry forward skills such as retrieving information, filing documentation, tracking progress, and prioritizing tasks into college and their future careers.
In a world saturated with technology, the binder will provide students with a physical anchor for their learning and promote healthy screen-time boundaries. While technology is critical and will be used often, students still need tangible systems for organization.
Starting the year with these physical materials ensures that all students have access to organizational supports regardless of their financial situation. By providing these supplies, you are helping to remove a barrier to learning and build consistent habits for dozens of students.
