My Students

Nothing is more fun than reading to children and doing "all the voices". What's second best for a child? Listening to a professional do "all the voices". My students love listening to recorded books. We have almost everything we need for a great listening center...except a few crucial things.

My students are OUTSTANDING!

We are located in a high poverty area of Northeastern Indiana. Altogether, we speak 5 languages. My students often mistakenly call me "Mom" because we are really like a family. There are times when I want to give these kids everything I can. However, money is a reality of life,therefore, Donors Choose.

My Project

My school provided my classroom with a wonderful CD player, headphones, and an eight station junction box. However, I have no good way to organize the cords for my center. I also need to start collecting audio books, so I thought this was a way to get me started. My students need a Read-Along Storage Unit and read along books.

In third grade, there is a huge transition between learning to read and reading to learn.

Especially for my ELL/ESL students, hearing fluent reading is essential to help make this transition. Students who listen to fluent reading are able to build the ability to "hear themselves" in their head when they read silently. This listening center kit will help us achieve this goal.
