My students are diverse in many ways, but the one thing they have in common is an eagerness to learn and explore. We are a high-poverty urban school district in Indiana, and many of my students find school as their one place of consistency. They are 21 minds of wonderful ambitions. They have dreams of going to colleges including UCLA, Indiana University, Yale, Harvard, and many others. They have every ability to achieve these ambitions, but my classroom must have the tools they need to achieve third grade objectives first.
