Help me give my students 3 ring binder sets for an organized head start to an engaging and successful school year!

My Project
My first year in a new building (yikes!), and I am determined to offer my students the means to start and remain organized on their path to success! OK, full disclosure—while this may be my first year in this building, I have a 32 year teaching career in my rearview. Ok, now I feel old. At any rate, I’ve noted over the years that some families struggle to provide their kids with the basics to keep them on track and organized, whilst others are able to purchase top of the line everything, from designer backpacks to customized notebooks. It’s a clear issue of equity and has the potential to upset the balance in any classroom from day one. It is past time to level the playing field by providing each student with their own binder and pencil pouch, stuffed with all of the school supplies I am able to gather. Additionally, in this current economy, I hope to lessen the financial burden for those who are struggling, giving both my students and their families one less thing to worry about as the school year begins. These binders will remain in the classroom and serve as the lynchpin for a consistent daily class routine, as students will enter, grab their binders and complete an engaging warmup (I promise they will be engaging!).
Organizing is a skill that is not innate and must be taught, and I’m on a mission to make sure all of my students ace this particular lesson!
By giving them the tools and skills they will need, I am also giving them the autonomy to walk their own path (with gentle reminders and guidance along the way). It will also help to prepare them for the transition to post secondary education.
