Mrs. Perry from Columbia SC is requesting classroom basics through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
See what Mrs. Perry is requestingHelp me give my students a safe and more organized classroom environment. The student center in my classroom is running low on supplies that are impacting their ability to perform class jobs and produce creative work.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
The students have been given a sense of independence and responsibility in the classroom by having class jobs, a student center where students are able to access class materials, and a student cabinet where they can access personal items such as hygiene, hair, etc. They have enjoyed this so much that they have offered suggestions of organizational system that seem more functional for them.
The supplies listed for this project will assist my students in organizing their student center, cabinet, and restock supplies related to some of the class jobs.
The most expensive item on the list is the supply cart. The current one is damaged due to consistent usage over the years. This new alternative offers more storage space for supplies, it is mobile, and the size is slightly bigger than before. The other semi-expensive items are that price because I requested a bulk amount. This is due to how frequent some supplies run out (cleaning wipes) or for a class set (headphones). The cleaning supplies will be used by my student germbusters to assist with keeping our classroom clean. The other supplies will be used to organize student work or for class work.
Students learn better with an organized and structured classroom environment. To fulfill this we need the supplies stocked, so a safe and organized environment can be maintained and my students will feel supported and heard when advocating for themselves (using their voice to make a change and meet their needs).
