Organize and Mobilize! Teaching Third Graders the Art of Organization

Help me give my students high quality folders that will last the entire year. These folders will help them organize their daily work, transport it from school to home, and help inform the parents.

My Project

My students are hard-working, intelligent, and incredibly fun human beings. We have various ethnicities, socio-economic backgrounds, and different learning needs in our classroom. This public school in California is the smallest one in its district. My classroom is funded mainly from myself and I rely heavily on donations from parents and the community for classroom supplies.

Third grade is a pivotal year for an eight-year-old!

So much is expected of these little ones at such a young age. A major component to being a successful, happy student is learning how to organize. We use three folders per student to help keep students organized inside and outside of class as well as communicate with the parents. These folders are used inside and outside of the classroom. We use them to organize classwork and homework. Two of the folders go home to the parents, giving them an inside look as to what their child is working on as well as a way to communicate with the teacher with any questions, comments or concerns.
