My Students

The days are far gone of sitting at desks in rows. Also, the class sizes have gotten too large and too engaging. We need more space in our class, but the classroom can't grow in square footage. The only thing left to do is organize what you have in such a way to make room for another desk.

We love to do all kinds of activities to help our class grow as learners.

The kids enjoy our STEM and STEAM lessons, literary circles, discussion boards, and anything else we dream up to do. The students are high energy fifth graders from majority low socioeconomic backgrounds. Our campus and class are made up of over 80% population of military dependents, thus making a highly transient population. With all of the curves thrown at us, we still keep chugging along to the top. Our highly diverse group is located in a centralized and well known part of Oahu.

My Project

The students would love to use this item as a means of making more space in the classroom to spread out. At this time we are using two student desks to hold the computer, Elmo, and projector. Though this is a good way to use what we have, we often run into issues with space in the classroom. We like the cart because it is easily portable. It is able to move around the room and has a power strip attached for easy use. If needed we can wind the cable up and push it into a corner in order to work on a STEM project on the floor. Many times I do not even need the Elmo or projector. We are either having class discussion or using white boards. We have even run across the issue of having too many students in a class and not much space to move. I love the idea of stacking everything on one movable cart in order to maximize our space in the classroom. Also we can reduce safety hazards of so many cords laying around the projector area.

Having this new cart would be wonderful in maximizing our space in the classroom to do even more wonderful things.

We love having technology in the classroom, but sometimes we need it to be easily movable in order to just get on the floor and do projects. Our current situation with how we have the projector and Elmo is a bit cumbersome and a safety hazard in either daisy linking power strips or long cords hanging out in the open. The cart has a power strip on the side to take care of that.
